WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives passed a Congressional Review Act (CRA) Joint Resolution of Disapproval to overturn the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Resource Management Plan (RMP) for North Dakota. U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and Representative Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) introduced identical resolutions to overturn the Biden-era regulation, which would have cut off significant portions of federal oil and coal from development.
Cramer applauded the vote. “The House passage of our CRA is a significant step in canceling the Biden administration’s plan to restrict North Dakota’s energy development. This resolution reaffirms the multiple use doctrine by ensuring North Dakota gets the best long-term plan possible to responsibly utilize our natural resources. I applaud Congresswoman Fedorchak’s leadership in the House. Now it’s time for the Senate to work with the Trump administration and get rid of this disastrous rule.”
The introduction of the delegation’s resolution followed the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) determination that the plan qualifies for repeal under the CRA. The delegation and the state of North Dakota requested changes regarding the draft RMP that the Biden BLM chose to ignore.
