WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) was sworn in during a ceremony today for his second term representing North Dakota in the United States Senate. Cramer was sworn in as North Dakota’s 24th U.S. Senator in 2019, and previously served in the House of Representatives. The 119th Congress, which begins today, marks the first time Republicans in the House and Senate will be in the majority since 2019.

“It’s the honor of a lifetime to serve the best people in the world in the United States Senate,” said Cramer. “It’s both an incredible responsibility and a great joy, and neither one is lost on me. We had some great success in my first term, highlighted by things like a Space Force, and incredible new missions for the Grand Forks Air Force Base, and growing the defense ecosystem in North Dakota, a very strong bipartisan transportation bill that I helped shepherd through and we’ll have an even better perch to do that from in the next highway bill. We’re going to build on those successes in this new term and I’m just grateful for the opportunity to be able to do it and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

During his first term in the Senate, Cramer led major legislative efforts, including creating the United States Space Force, reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank, and negotiating the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Cramer led a Congressional Review Act resolution of disapproval to overturn a Biden administration rule, which would have negatively impacted rural state departments of transportation by forcing a greenhouse gas emissions performance measure. As a strong supporter for life, Cramer co-chairs the Congressional Coalition on Adoption and introduced legislation to allow expectant mothers to receive child support payments. He also created and co-chairs the Defense Modernization Caucus and the American Canadian Economy and Security Caucus

Cramer will maintain his committee assignments and serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Banking Committee, Environment and Public Works Committee, and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
