BISMARCK—U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded $4,595,488 in grants to seven North Dakota programs.
The North Dakota Department of Human Services received a Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service Grant totaling $3,000,000 from the Center for Mental Health Services. It will fund North Dakota’s program to improve the mental health outcomes for children and youth, birth through age 21.
North Dakota State University received a $435,000 grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences for its Pharmacology, Physiology and Biological Chemistry Research Program. This program studies the mechanistic aspects of the final step of heme b biosynthesis in Gram-positive bacteria.
The Three Affiliated Tribes received a $375,000 grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Chronic Diseases Prevention and Health Promotion. It will be used to develop curriculum to combat diabetes as part of the Three Affiliated Tribes Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country Program.
The North Dakota Department of Health received $108,362 from the Health Resources and Services Administration for its Ryan White Part B Supplemental Program. This program is designed to improve the quality, availability and organization of HIV health care and support services.
The University of North Dakota received $336,341 from Indian Health Services to support its RAIN: Quentin Burdick American Indians Into Nursing Program. It also received $240,785 from Indian Health Services to support the UND Indians into Psychology Doctoral Education Program.
Family Healthcare Center, a family-oriented primary care clinic providing a wide-variety of medical services for patients in the Fargo-Moorhead area, received $100,000 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Office of Consumer Support. These funds will support its program to support navigators in federally-facilitated exchanges program.
