BISMARCK — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) today applauded President Donald J. Trump’s executive action to provide tax, housing, and student debt relief to the American people.
“President Trump is taking care of the working men and women of America, the unemployed families of America, and the American people struggling to pay their bills and keep a roof over their heads,” said Senator Cramer. “Democrats clearly want to play partisan games, stick to their liberal wish list, and ignore the paramount priorities of getting kids safely back to school, helping people who are working, and providing assistance for those who cannot return to their jobs. President Trump has the right priorities, and I fully support his effort.”
Senator Cramer praised the President’s actions aimed at relieving people from burdensome debt obligations.
“The relief in student loan debt and the efforts to address the eviction moratorium will give people breathing room and allow them to better prioritize their shrinking resources,” said Senator Cramer.“That lets Americans who are not making as much money or who are confined to unemployment benefits take a much-needed break from the stress of having to pay more bills than they can afford.”
The Senator also praised President Trump for making additional unemployment insurance benefits available at a lower payment rate and for deferring the payroll tax through the end of the year for those making $100,000 or less. This will allow businesses to increase wages for eligible workers by 7.65 percent through December 2020.
“While President Trump is taking care of middle-class men and women who have to keep working, he’s also taking care of those who cannot get back to work,” said Senator Cramer. “Kudos to the President for hitting those targets.”
