BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), joined U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) in introducing the Secure the Border Act of 2023, which will resume border wall construction, expand the number of Border Patrol Agents, strengthen asylum standards, and criminalize visa overstays. It will also restrict the Department of Homeland Security from using its CBP One app to expedite the arrival of migrants into the country.

It’s simple: border security is national security,” said Senator Cramer. “The open border policies implemented by the Biden administration make our country less secure, and we need these commonsense solutions to curb the crisis at the border."

U.S. Senators cosponsoring the legislation include U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R- KY) and U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Tom Cotton (R-AR), JD Vance (R-OH), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), John Kennedy (R-LA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John Thune (R-SD), Katie Britt (R-AL), Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Budd (R-NC), Steve Daines (R-MT), Tim Scott (R-SC), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Todd Young (R-IN), John Barrasso (R-WY), Mike Braun (R-IN), Ron Johnson (R-WI), John Hoeven (R-ND), and Chuck Grassley (R-IA).
