WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) in introducing a resolution condemning crimes and expressions of racism and hate toward Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. It calls on the Judiciary Committee to convene a hearing on the surge in violence against the AAPI community and applauds the Justice Department for conducting a 30-day review to identify how best to track and combat violence.

Yesterday Senator Cramer addressed the rise in bigotry towards Asian Americans, citing the national strength in diversity and multiculturalism.

“The rise in bigotry toward Asian Americans is heartbreaking,” said Senator Cramer. “Our diversity and multiculturalism is our strength. It’s frustrating that some Americans still don't realize that.”

Senators Cramer and Grassley are joined on the resolution by Senators John Cornyn (R-TX), John Kennedy (R-LA), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Rick Scott (R-FL), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Susan Collins (R-ME), Tim Scott (R-SC), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Jerry Moran (R-KA) Todd Young (R-IN), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Rob Portman (R-OH), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), and James Risch (R-ID).

The resolution is endorsed by the Korean American Grass Roots Conference and Korean Americans for Political Action.
