WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) on a letter to Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai asking them to reverse the Biden Administration’s decision to give U.S. COVID intellectual property to China.

“It is not surprising that China, India, and South Africa want to steal our intellectual property and medical technology,” the senators wrote. “Simply put, the Biden Administration’s support for a TRIPS waiver puts America’s interests last and China’s interests first.”

Earlier this month, the Biden Administration announced its support for waiving intellectual property protections for COVID-19 vaccines.

Senators Cramer, Cotton, and Tillis are joined on the letter by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Mike Lee (R-UT), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), Mike Crapo (R-ID) James Lankford (R-OK), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Todd Young (R-IN), Richard Burr (R-NC), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Steve Daines (R-MT).
