WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a member of the Senate Banking and Senate Budget committees, spoke to members of the North Dakota Association of Nonprofit Organizations today as part of the organization’s virtual State of the Nonprofit Sector Press Conference.

“Nonprofits make irreplaceable contributions to their communities. Congress needs to play its part in ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to continue serving Americans in need,” said Senator Cramer. “I’m grateful to North Dakota’s nonprofits for the work they do and for the opportunity to talk with them today.”

Senator Cramer has recently worked on several issues to assist nonprofits, including:

  • Leading the Legacy IRA Act, which would expand the IRA Charitable Rollover to allow seniors starting at age 65 to make tax-free IRA rollovers to charities through life-income plans;
  • Introducing the Paycheck Protection Small Business Forgiveness Act, which streamlines forgiveness for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans of $150,000 or less; and
  • Calling for additional relief to be provided to nonprofits suffering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
