WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined Larry Kudlow on Fox Business today to discuss Democrats’ federalization of elections, Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) legislation to implement sanctions on Nord Stream 2, and the tax code. Excerpts and the full video are below.

On Democrats’ Federalization of Elections:

“[Democrat] Leader Schumer wants to bring up the voting rights bill which is just an absolute fake crisis that they're trying to create so they can open up the doors for a federal overtaking of our state election system. When the states created the federal government, I like to stress that the states created the federal government, they put certain safeguards in place. The United States Senate is one of those safeguards that looks out for millions of people that might be in a different part of the country than the majority. It’s worked very well to this point.”

“[Democrats] are trying to blow up and overdramatize January 6 of last year to try to fit this agenda, which is exactly why the president is going to be going to Georgia and give a speech tying to voter rights with minority rights. All the while he comes from a state and he served a state in Delaware that has less access to voting than Georgia. Our voting system has been successful. You may not like what another state does but that is the other state's business. Certainly we don't want to mandate things like ballot harvesting or not allowing states to secure their votes with a simple voter I.D. bill that is already an idea that has been upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States. No, it is just all drama to try to federalize exactly what happened in the last election and that is wide open access to ballot harvesting, vote by mail, same-day registration, all of which create opportunities for mischief and all of which should be determined by states, not by the federal government.”

On Sen. Cruz’s Nord Stream 2 Legislation:

“I think Senator Cruz’s bill will pass the floor of the Senate unless a whole bunch of Democrats change their mind. There’s a whole bunch of them that have always supported exactly what [Senator] Ted Cruz will do here. It will come down whether they will stand by their conviction or stand by their party because of course it was their president who gave that gift to Vladimir Putin and did great harm, frankly to national security as well as to our economic security and our energy dominance. By the way, Vladimir Putin’s natural gas that flows [in] Nord Stream 2 is 41% dirtier than American natural gas. It is not even good for the environment or the climate... I’m a cosponsor of it, of course, and strongly support it. I love the idea of everybody going on record.”

On the Tax Code:

“We talked a little bit about the tax code. How about we make it lower taxes [with a] simpler code? Everything is flatter. Everything is easier. We don't punish success but rather incentivize [it] and reward people who do well and harm no one. If we could get rid of a lot of regulation… we could incentivize a whole bunch of new investment that leads to a lot more jobs and a lot more tranquil life in our free market exceptional capitalist system of the United States of America. That is what I’m all about.”
