BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a contract worth $782,115.10 to the Scientific Applications and Research Associates, Inc. (SARA).

The FAA contract will be used to research unmanned aerial systems (UAS) detect and avoid capabilities conducted through the Northern Plains UAS Test Site. The contract was made available through the FY 2019 appropriations bill, which provided $6 million for this program.
