WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $3,468,739 to North Dakota through HUD’s Office of Community Planning and Development. This COVID-19 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) was awarded as authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Today’s funding announcement comes as a part of a nation-wide investment as allocated by the CARES Act totaling $2.96 billion in Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) funding to help America’s low-income families and most vulnerable citizens. The grants will be used to support homeless Americans and individuals at risk of becoming homeless because of hardships such as job loss, wage reduction, or illness due to COVID-19. The relief funds will be awarded quickly by using existing grant formulas and accompanied by new guidance with less red tape so grantees can quickly help their communities.
