BISMARCK, N.D. – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) awarded $565,000 to North Dakota Agricultural Mitigation (NDAM) through the Wetland Mitigation Banking Program (WMBP). The selection is part of a $4.4 million national investment supporting seven projects to expand wetland mitigation banking opportunities for agricultural producers.

NDAM will use the funding to grow the North Dakota Ag Wetland Trade program, helping producers meet wetland conservation requirements through affordable mitigation practices. Since 2022, NDAM has created over 80 acres of wetland mitigation credit approved by North Dakota Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Cramer and the North Dakota delegation wrote a letter to USDA NRCS Chief Colton L. Buckley supporting NDAM’s application for funding.

“The NDAM provides an important tool to help our producers remain conservation compliant while continuing to productively use agricultural land,” Cramer, U.S. Senator John Hoeven (R-ND), and U.S. Representative Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) wrote in their letter.
