WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded a grant totaling $235,000 to Minot State University to support universal newborn hearing screening and intervention.

The HHS funds are approved under the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). HRSA’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Programs enable states, families, and providers to develop complete and coordinated systems of care so that newborns, infants, and young children who are deaf or hard of hearing are identified and receive the care they need. Early involvement can help these children meet age-appropriate language, social, and other developmental milestones.
