BISMARCK — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the Plains Art Museum in Fargo was awarded a grant totaling $84,792 by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The funds are awarded as a part of IMLS’s Museums for America Grant program which supports projects that strengthen the ability of museums to serve the public. IMLS works to advance, support, and empower America’s museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development. They have provided over $19 million around the country for this purpose this year.

The Plains Art Museum will use the IMLS funds to scale up its youth leadership-building program called Buzz Lab. Buzz Lab provides a paid summer internship program that engages teens in student-led, project-based learning in art and science. The program inspires teens to lead community change while highlighting the art museum’s role in addressing community needs.
