BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) joined a virtual town hall with the North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU) Board of Governors today to discuss solutions to problems facing livestock producers.

“North Dakota’s ranchers and producers understand the importance of food security and its connection to national security,” said Senator Cramer. “I appreciate the North Dakota Farmers Union for hosting today’s event and the members for offering their insights and expertise.”

Senator Cramer fielded questions from NDFU members, received feedback on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), and shared his concerns over the lack of competition within the meat packing industry.

Senator Cramer also outlined his support for legislation like the “PRIME Act,” the “Cover Crop Flexibility Act,” and the “New Markets for State Inspected Meat and Poultry Act,” which would allow state-inspected meat and poultry products to be sold or donated across state lines.
