NEW TOWN, ND – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Armed Services Committee and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee member, participated in a ceremony today honoring Corporal Nathan Goodiron who was killed in Afghanistan on November 23, 2006, while on duty with the North Dakota National Guard.

“As we remember the life and sacrifice of Corporal Nathan Goodiron, we grieve and we celebrate,” said Senator Cramer. “Proverbs 10:7 tells us, ‘The memory of the righteous is a blessing.’ I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be blessed today.”

The ceremony was hosted by the North Dakota Heroes Foundation (NDHF), which raises money to dedicate memorials for fallen soldiers in their hometowns. The memorial honoring Cpl. Goodiron, who died at the age of 25, is a “Soldier’s Battlefield Cross” with a plaque affixed to the base.
