WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a member of the Senate Banking and Senate Budget committees, issued the following statement after voting against Janet Yellen’s nomination to be U.S. Secretary of the Treasury:

“Janet Yellen backs policies proposed by President Biden I cannot support. She seems too eager to raise taxes on the American people, her energy policies are job killers, and her willingness to unilaterally double the federal minimum wage with little regard for its impact on jobs is frightening. The Biden Administration’s approach to these issues would damage North Dakotans’ pocketbooks and threaten to derail any significant recovery to the economic downturn the American people are fighting to reverse. Such harmful policy stances disqualify her from earning my vote to be Treasury Secretary.”
