BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) awarded $500,000 to the Turtle Mountain Community College. In collaboration with the Sandia National Laboratories, this grant will enhance education curriculum for building construction and electrical trades to recruit and train a skilled workforce of American Indian and Alaska Native students. It will also help fill traditional and emerging positions in the Nuclear Security Enterprise.

This funding is part of a $2.5 million grant which was distributed to five Minority-Serving Institutions and Tribal Colleges and Universities to support the development of a diverse, highly skilled, and enduring stream of talented students who are working to advance America’s nuclear security.

The Tribal Education Partnership Program grant helps provide Native American students a pathway to a future career at NNSA, while also developing the workforce needed for the success of the nuclear security enterprise mission.
