BISMARCK – U.S. Senator and Senate Veterans Affairs Committee member Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) clearing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as a clinical demonstration project:

“I am grateful to the VA for finally coming around to this decision. I never cease to be amazed at how slowly our bureaucracy responds to the needs of our citizens, especially our veterans. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy perfectly aligns with the intent of the VA MISSION Act, which is why I continually push Secretary Wilkie to help our veterans get access to this treatment. I hope this is the beginning of significant reforms that meet the needs of our veterans who give so much for the security and freedom of our country.”

HBOT is cleared as a clinical demonstration project which will be available at five sites, the VA told Senator Cramer. The Senator pressed Secretary Wilkie on this issue in March during a committee hearing, where the Secretary committed to visiting Fargo to see the Hyperbaric Chamber firsthand.
