WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) voted against Joint Resolution 54, a resolution of disapproval that would terminate President Trump’s national emergency declaration to fix the crisis at the southern border.

“I have seen the crisis at the southern border firsthand,” said Senator Cramer. “Our immigration law enforcement officers are the best in the world, but Democrats are playing politics and attempting to hurt President Trump by trying to prevent these officers from receiving the resources they need to do their job and keep our country safe.”

The Senate voted on this resolution today because the law regarding a national emergency declaration includes procedures allowing for a vote every six months on whether to terminate the emergency.

In August, Senator Cramer visited the southern border, where he met with immigration law enforcement and toured the border wall, port of entry facilities, and processing centers.
