Chris Died in a Fatal Car Crash while Stationed in Grand Forks, North Dakota

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) attended a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Valor Memorial and Wreath Laying Ceremony last Thursday for Christopher T. Bacon, an Intelligence Collection Operations Manager stationed at the National Air Security Operations Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the time of his death.

“By all accounts, Chris was a loyal friend and a faithful family man who offered his life in service to our country,” said Senator Cramer. “The stories of his comradery and servant’s heart personify the spirit of North Dakota’s military and law enforcement communities. I am grateful for his sacrifice, and for the sacrifice of all whose names are engraved on the memorial; what they have given us we can never repay.”

The CBP Valor Memorial is a monument that lists the names of all CBP agents who died while serving their country. The addition of Chris Bacon’s name was unveiled on Thursday, May 16, 2019. Chris lost his life on June 7, 2018, in a car crash near Crookston, Minnesota.

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Valor Memorial honors the men and women who sacrificed their lives in defense of our homeland,” Acting CBP Commissioner John P. Sanders wrote in a handout given to attendees. “Each name engraved here is that of a patriot whose dedication to protecting our Nation continues to inspire all who follow. May we always be forever grateful for their selflessness, heroism, and courage.”
