WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Armed Services Committee member, joined Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) in introducing a resolution condemning hatred and violence against Jews, denouncing anti-Israel rhetoric from elected officials and the media, and reaffirming Jews deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

“In America and around the world, we are seeing Jews being attacked in the streets just because they are Jews, and some of our elected officials are fueling the flames by insufficiently condemning the violence and attacking Israel for defending itself,” said Senator Cramer. “Anti-Semitism is evil, Israel is our friend, and violence against Jews for being Jewish is vile. The United States needs to unequivocally condemn such abhorrent behavior. I urge my colleagues to do so by supporting our resolution.”

According to the Anti-Defamation League, their organization has received 193 reports of possible anti-Semitic incidents in the United States last week, up from 131 the week prior. Their analysis of Twitter in the days following the recent outbreak of violence showed more than 17,000 tweets which used variations of the phrase, “Hitler was right” between May 7 and May 14, 2021.

Senator Cramer has been a strong supporter of Israel during these latest events and throughout his tenure. He recently joined his colleagues in introducing a resolution condemning the attacks on Israel by Hamas, and he signed onto a letter to President Biden urging him to stand with Israel and not provide sanctions relief to Iran. The senator discussed the recent cease-fire between Israel and Hamas on Fox Business last week. Click here to watch.

It is endorsed by the Republican Jewish Coalition and the Family Research Council.
