Sen. Cramer on Confirmation of North Dakotan David Black as Social Security Deputy Commissioner

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement on the confirmation of North Dakotan David Black as Social Security Deputy Commissioner:

“I am glad to see David confirmed. He is well-qualified for this post, and I look forward to working with him to help preserve Social Security for future generations.”

David Black was a senior advisor to the Commissioner of Social Security before being confirmed. He previously served as their general counsel during the Bush and Obama administrations. Before that, he held the position of deputy assistant secretary in the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights from 2004-2007. Mr. Black also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota.

Senator Cramer met with Mr. Black in March to discuss his nomination and possible reforms to ensure this program remains available for generations to come.
