WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and John Hoeven (R-ND) delivered remarks on the Senate floor today in remembrance of Cody Holte, the Grand Forks Police Department Officer killed in the line of duty last Wednesday.

“When he arrived at the scene, like all good officers do, Cody didn’t run from the fire. He ran to it. He saved lives by giving up his own,” said Senator Cramer. “It’s what heroes do, what all who wear the badge are prepared to do.”

At the age of 29, Officer Holte leaves behind his wife Amanda and infant son Gunnar. Holte also served as a First Lieutenant in the North Dakota National Guard. Read his obituary here.

In his speech, Senator Cramer shared some of the remarks made by those close to Officer Holte at Tuesday’s funeral and talked about the importance of rallying around the loved ones Holte leaves behind.
