WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today that he will co-sponsor several pieces of pro-life legislation, an announcement that comes as thousands of people travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 2019 March for Life.

“We as a nation have been denying many of our citizens the right to life for far too long,” said Senator Cramer. “I stand in firm support of those marching for life today. They march today so politicians like me will support bills like these, and I have heard their voice. The right to life is a critical issue facing our nation, and both sides need to get serious about addressing it.”

Senator Cramer is a co-sponsor on the following pro-life bills:

  • Life at Conception Act: A bill to assert that life begins at conception and thus, at conception, human beings are guaranteed all of the protections secured under the constitution.
  • Conscience Protection Act: A bill to prevent any federal, state, or local government from penalizing a health care provider for not participating in an abortion procedure.
  • The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act: A bill that would ban abortion after 20 weeks.
  • Protecting Global Health Assistance Act: A bill to codify President Reagan’s Mexico City Policy which prevents federal foreign assistance funds from going to governments that promote/perform abortions.
  • Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act of 2019: A bill to make sex-based abortions illegal in the United States. This bill would make it a crime for someone to knowingly abort an unborn child based on its sex or gender.
  • The Protect Funding for Women’s Health Care Act: A bill to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood and shift that money to women’s health services.
  • No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act and the Title X Prohibition Act: Two bills to protect the taxpayer from funding the abortion industry. After the Senate rejected the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion bill this week, Senator Cramer called on the Senate to re-consider this bill and vote to support it.
  • Born Alive Abortion Survivor’s Protection Act: A bill to guarantee that a child that survives an abortion will receive the same medical care as a premature child of the same age.
  • The Child Interstate Notification Act: A bill to protect the rights of parents to be notified if their child is going to have an abortion.

Senator Cramer has been an advocate for the rights of the unborn through his entire life and his career in public service. This week, Senator Cramer became the first Senate freshman to speak on the Senate floor, delivering a speech urging the Senate to act in support of defending life.
