WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement on the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) approving three defense nominees which will have responsibilities directly affecting North Dakota’s military community if confirmed:

“The nominees we advanced today are important for efforts throughout North Dakota like timely nuclear modernization at Minot; enduring intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance efforts in Grand Forks; and upgrading Air Force and Air Guard effectiveness in Fargo. They all play a role in protecting our country and implementing President Trump’s directive to rebuild our military and equip our forces with the tools they need. I look forward to working with each of these nominees once they are confirmed, and I hope to see them in North Dakota soon.”

SASC approved the following three nominations, which now go before the full Senate:

Bradley D. Hansell to be Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security;

Lucas Polakowski to be Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs; and

Shon Manasco to be Under Secretary of the Air Force.

Senator Cramer spoke with Mr. Hansell and Mr. Polakowski about nuclear modernization and North Dakota’s intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities during a SASC nominations hearing last month. Click here to watch. The senator also met with Mr. Manasco to discuss these same issues in July.
