ARGUSVILLE, ND – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) participated in an agriculture roundtable with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Under Secretary Bill Northey today as USDA approved the disaster designation for 47 North Dakota counties.

“The Trump Administration cares about North Dakota. I appreciate Secretary Perdue for approving our farmers’ requests for more relief, as well as Under Secretary Northey for meeting with them and hearing their concerns today,” said Senator Cramer. “I am also grateful for the leaders in our state like Governor Burgum and Agriculture Commissioner Goehring, as well as Senator Hoeven and Congressman Armstrong. Each of them- through their proper channels- are doing excellent work to get our farmers the resources they need. I applaud them for that, and I look forward to continuing to work with them and this Administration to ensure the needs of our agriculture community are met.”

Under Secretary Northey attended this roundtable to hear from North Dakota’s farmers and producers and to discuss USDA approving North Dakota’s disaster designation request.

The Under Secretary’s visit comes as China and the United States continue making progress on securing a trade deal. As they negotiate, USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue yesterday authorized a second round of Market Facilitation Program (MFP) payments for farmers negatively impacted by trade disruptions.
