WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator and Senate Budget Committee member Kevin Cramer (R-ND) today helped passed through committee S. 2765, the Bipartisan Congressional Budget Reform Act, a bill he cosponsored to change the way Congress debates and passes a budget.

“Congress’s budget system is broken,” said Senator Cramer. “These commonsense reforms supported by both sides of the aisle move us toward a more accountable, functional process.”

Among other reforms, this bill would change the current budget process to a biennial budget cycle, make budget targets based on a debt-to-GDP ratio, and create reliable mechanisms to control spending if Congress fails to meet its targets. For more information from the Senate Budget Committee, click here.
