BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the U.S. Department of Interior’s (DOI) Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) awarded a combined $3,275,670 to tribally controlled colleges and universities in North Dakota. The following institutions received funds: 

 

  • Turtle Mountain Community College- $1,157,310
  • United Tribes Technical College - $844,160
  • Sitting Bull College - $535,390
  • Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College - $270,040
  • Cankdeska Cikana Community College (Little Hoop) - $250,760

 

Sisseton Wahpeton Community College, which is located in South Dakota but is affiliated with the Sisseton Wahpeton tribe located partially in North Dakota, also received $218,010. These funds are awarded as part of a $22.9 million investment into 35 Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities throughout the United States. Institutional allocation was based on Indian student count.
