WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement on the Senate confirming Dr. Kathleen Hicks as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense: 

“North Dakota is a crucial part of our country’s national defense, and Dr. Hicks’ demonstrated a clear understanding of our needs and missions. I look forward to her visiting the state and to working with her on nuclear modernization, intelligence missions, and support for the members of our Armed Forces.”

Senator Cramer questioned Dr. Hicks at her confirmation hearing, pressing her on the cost of delaying nuclear modernization efforts at Air Force bases like Minot’s, and highlighting the importance of the Grand Forks Air Force Base and its Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission. Watch it here.
