BISMARCK – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement on President Donald J. Trump nominating Amy Coney Barrett as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court:

“This is an excellent choice by President Trump, who is fulfilling his constitutional responsibility to put forward a well-qualified nominee. Judge Amy Coney Barrett seems made for this moment. She is a brilliant legal scholar who has come face-to-face with the appalling attacks of the far-left and won. While these radicals have already started repackaging their cookie-cutter, anti-Christian attacks on her and gone after her family, I trust President Trump is putting forward a nominee in Judge Barrett who is ready for this fight. I look forward to learning more about her and visiting with her to discuss her nomination.”

Senator Cramer called on the Senate to consider President Trump’s nominee earlier this week. In interviews and at hearings, Senator Cramer has outlined his intention to ask the Supreme Court nominee about her views on federalism and the proper role of states in a federalist system.
