And on the Nominations Process

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement on the nominations of Drew Wrigley and Peter Welte and on the nominations process:

“The nominations of Drew Wrigley to be District Attorney for North Dakota and Peter Welte to be District Judge for North Dakota will be before the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow, February 28. Drew and Peter are excellent nominees whose outstanding credentials will once again win the support of my colleagues.

“As they continue through the process, I’m pushing for reforms to the way we handle nominations. The proposed changes would help ensure qualified nominees like Drew and Peter can’t be anonymously and unnecessarily held. The failures of last Congress should not be repeated.”
