And on the Nominations Process

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator and member of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement regarding the nominations of those voted out of committee today:

“Since the start of the 116th Congress, this committee has spent valuable time considering these nominations- the majority of whom passed through committee last Congress- but never received a vote on the Senate floor. Today’s vote is another addition to a long list of examples which demonstrate why the system is badly in need of reform.”

Background

Today the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee voted the following nominees of out of committee: Dr. Mark Anthony Calabria, Mr. Bimal Patel, Mr. Todd M. Harper, Honorable Rodney Hood, Ms. Kimberly A. Reed, The Honorable Spencer Bachus III, Ms. Judith DelZoppo Pryor, Dr. Dino Falaschetti, Mr. Seth Appleton, and Mr. Robert Hunter Kurtz.

While two were new, eight of these nominees had to be re-nominated by the Administration because the previous Congress failed to act in time. Since joining the U.S. Senate, Senator Cramer has led the effort to reform the nominations process, advocating for changes like those recently passed by the Rules Committee.
